Lacey, give us a little information on your story. How did it all begin? I was born into a family of entertainers. My Dad is a former professional mascot, and my Mom was a professional cheerleader and is still active in community theatre. I started dancing with I was three but didn't jump into theatre until I was a little older. My first "professional" job was as the mini mascot for the NFL Carolina Panthers, which led to being able to perform as "Mini Hugo" (the mini mascot for the NBA Charlotte Hornets) at the 2015 French All-Star Game. After performing in front of 25,000 fans, I was hooked! Do you have any preferred brands, settings, clothing lines, etc.?
I am a massive fan of HM but also love vintage shopping. Recently I discovered the Irregular Choice brand of shoes, and I am just slightly obsessed. While celebrating my birthday, I bought my first pair in Asheville, NC, and cannot wait to get another. I'm excited for my next photo shoot, where I can pair an incredible HM outfit with my new shoes. We are in a world where we all have dreams and aspirations. What is yours?
I have huge dreams, but honestly, my biggest dream is to help make the world a better place. If I can do that by acting, singing, or directing, that will be fantastic. But I also want to live my life in a way that people admire. I am a huge advocate for equality and hope to use my star power someday to ensure everyone is treated equally, no matter their gender or race. If I can win an Oscar along the way for making a film that has an impact, then my dreams will come true! If the entertainment industry didn't come forward, what will have been your second option?
I don't think there is a second option. The industry is tough, and there is a lot of rejection. I have struggled with that recently and keep second-guessing if this is what I am meant to do, but then an incredible audition will come in, or I will film a fantastic project, and I am reminded that this is my happy place. I love nothing more than being on set, connecting with the cast and crew, and enjoying every aspect of the filmmaking process. I honestly cannot see myself anywhere else. Tell the viewers a bit about yourself.
I am a 15-year-old actress, singer, and kid reporter and will soon be adding director to that list. I have written my first short film and will be directing it in September, which has been an incredible process. I genuinely love the filmmaking process, from writing to casting to costume design, and am honored to have the backing of 3 recent UNC School of the Arts grads who are helping me follow my dreams. I also love my three fantastic dogs - Lola, Luciano, and Leo and I am really excited to start 10th grade at Northwest School of the Arts. Lacey, you have worked with Nascar as a kid reporter. Describe this experience.
My experience as the NASCAR Kids Reporter has honestly changed my life and my opinion of the sport. My Dad keeps a list of funny things I have said growing up, and one time I said, " I don't get NASCAR. All they do is drive in circles and turn left." Well, that couldn't be farther from the truth, and I have loved getting to know the drivers and some of their families over the past few years. I respect how committed the drivers are to their sport and how much dedication and commitment it takes. And teamwork - watching a race and everything that happens in the pits throughout is like a choreographed dance. That may sound silly, but what the pit crews do and how the drivers constantly communicate with their crew chiefs as they drive close to 200mph is impressive. Any words for your supporters?
Never ever give up on your dreams, no matter what they are, and be sure to surround yourself with people who love you for you. Life can be challenging and isn't always the beauty that we see on social media. Reach out to your friends and make sure they are okay - tell them you love them. You have no idea how far this could go! --
